Medical Faculty of Charles University in Hradec Kralove

The Medical Faculty in Hradec Kralove is part of Charles University in Prague. It is the oldest higher education centre in all Eastern Bohemia. It was the first medical faculty founded after the Second World War, on 13th October 1945. It was built as part of Charles University in Prague, one of the oldest universities in Central Europe. Despite belonging to Prague’s University, this Medical Faculty is located in another different city, which makes it different and special. Here you can study Medicine or Dentistry, which once more confirms the specialization of Charles University regarding biomedical studies.

In 1992 the English programme was introduced in Hradec Kralove and since then many international students have already taken advantage of it. For example, in the 2013/2014 academic year 361 students began their degrees in the international programme.

All the seminars, lectures and courses are taught in English regardless they are practical or theoretical lessons. However, the students always need basic Czech skills as during the internships they will need to talk to real patients.

In order to promote interculturality, the Medical Faculty of Hradec Kralove has come to several international agreements to promote academic exchanges and internships abroad among its students. For instance, the renowned Mayo Clinic receives every year a group of students to take their summer internships there. Likewise, you can also ask for an Erasmus year in many European universities, such as the University of Pécs, the University of Valencia or the Université Libre in Brussels.
