Facultad de Odontología Riga

Founded in 1921, the Faculty of Dentistry is one of Riga Stradins University’s oldest faculties. The faculty has its origins and developed its principles in the pre-war Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Dentistry at the University of Latvia.

Today, the faculty offers a 5-year degree programme in dentistry. The degree programme is fully recognised in the European Union and produces highly qualified dentists, with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully compete in the labour market and practice general dentistry – including various dental practices, treating patients with oral cavity and tooth diseases and educating people about these diseases.

Objetive of degree programme The objective of the Dentistry degree programme is to produce highly qualified dentists with the necessary knowledge and skills to practice general dentistry and have a successful career.
Further study options Students can choose to continue their education in a postgraduate Residency Programme, focusing on: orthodontics, prosthetic dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, paediatric dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.

Students can study specialist dentistry disciplines at the Institute of Dentistry – a high quality internationally recognised centre specialising in the practice of dentistry, located near the university’s main building. As the leading centre in orthodontics, prosthodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery, the Institute of Dentistry is able to offer both undergraduate and postgraduate students the best degree programmes. This internationally acclaimed centre in the practice of dentistry provides students with an outstanding education in the theoretical and practical aspects of dentistry under the supervision of the most qualified and renowned professors and practitioners in Latvia and in Europe.

The School of Dental Hygiene and the Latvian Dental Students Association cooperate with the faculty. The faculty’s Dean and a number of its lecturers are members of the prestigious dental organisation Pierre Fauchard Academy.
